Explanation for Question 12 From the Writing Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 1

So question 12 is asking us, which choice is most effectively showing info from 2 the graph. So whatever answer choice we've picked, 3 we want it to be what we see in the graph. And we're looking 4 here. What we want to find is in the winter, 5 what is the average daily low temperature? 6 First thing we should see is that the low temperature is the solid line, 7 not the dashed line. Um, 8 so now let's see what we think it is, right? So winter will probably 9 start around November, 10 December, and we'll probably go till around February ish. 11 Um, or that might be a little bit too far here. 12 Yeah. Maybe around there. Um, they don't give us a actual timeframe here for 13 what is winter and what is summer. So you can kind of guess. 14 Um, and we see that the lowest point, 15 it looks like it's 12 degrees, 16 right? 17 That's our lowest point on the, on the graph. 18 Um, it's also marked with a, a solid dot. 19 So that tells us, this is probably the winter point right here is probably 20 the summer. Maybe this is spring by slide. 21 These could be either summer or spring, right? And then this one's going to 22 be fall. And now if we look at answer a, 23 it says as low as 20 degrees, and we noticed that the 20 degrees 24 is not the average daily low, but the average daily high temperature. 25 So that's, what's wrong with a 12 would actually be a better answer because 26 12 was actually on the line for the average daily low temperature, 27 which is what we were looking for right...
