Explanation for Question 20 From the Reading Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 1

So 20 says the graph following the passage offers evidence. 2 So we're going to look at the graph here, that gift givers base their 3 predictions of how much a gift will be appreciated based on what well remember, 4 the, the whole passage has talked about how, 5 um, gift givers will predict or base their predictions on how much a gift 6 is appreciated based on how big it is or how much money they spend 7 on it. Right. Um, so for me, 8 without looking at the graph, I'm already thinking it's because of money, 9 but let's see what the graph is even measuring. So remember, 10 we're looking at gift givers, not gift recipients, 11 so how to give givers, do it. Gift givers are this side of the 12 graph, right? We're not looking at the other side. So, 13 um, they, 14 so they think that this is, this is measuring appreciation on the, 15 on the y-axis. 16 So basically they think that if you give a lesser expensive gift, 17 right, this is how much they think that people will appreciate it. 18 Whereas you get a more expensive gift. I think they'll appreciate it this much. 19 So clearly money is playing the biggest role here for the gift givers. 20 And so the answer is going to be the one that talks about the 21 monetary value of the gift, which is B because that's clearly the thing, 22 only thing that was changing between that first bar, 23 the darker gray bar and the wider gray bar was the money. 24 Right. Then nothing else changed there. So that's gonna be the answer.
