Explanation for Question 7 From the Reading Section on the 2019 March Sat
Okay. Question number seven reads, 2 which choice provides the best evidence for the answer to the previous question. 3 So if you remember from the previous video about question six, 4 our correct answer here was choice a Virginia perceives a relationship between 5 what instruments are called and how they sound. 6 And so we used this line, 7 uh, in the fourth or fifth paragraph of the passage 8 describing her initial experiences with selecting an instrument, 9 um, where Virginia initially makes this 10 connection. It was not long. However, 11 before she realized that she had made a good choice for the sound of 12 its name was synonymous with the throbbing complaint that poured out of its cumbersome 13 body. So the reason this quote is a little tricky, 14 um, is because of this detailed, the throbbing complaint that poured out of its 15 cumbersome body what's meant here is really just the sound that the instrument makes. 16 Um, although they, they author as being a bit poetic with it. 17 That's, that's all that we're trying to say here, the noise that the instrument 18 makes. So we see a connection between the sound of its name and the 19 sound of its, um, 20 the, the music that is produced by the instrument. 21 So that's our connection and this is lines 44 to 48. 22 So that should be our correct answer. Let's verify if that is one of 23 our options. Yeah. 24 So that'll be choice D um, 25 answer choices, a, B and C earlier in the passage. 26 Um, also referred to her initial experiences with selecting an instrument, 27 but we don't really see any relationship kind of emerging in those lines. 28 Um, really we're just hearing about the process of Virginia, 29 seeing the string instruments, um, 30 making her selection and, um, 31 blindly accepting this instrument. So those answer choices are going to be less relevant 32 and are correct answer choice for seven, 33 should be a choice D.
