Explanation for Question 6 From the Reading Section on the 2019 March Sat
Turning now to question number six, 2 this question reads in the passage, 3 the narrator suggests that Virginia perceives a relationship between which aspects of 4 a musical instrument. So let's refer back to the passage for this one. 5 This detail is seen in her initial experiences, 6 um, where we see Virginia 7 looking at the clarinet, 8 as well as the strings. So we 9 see this detail here about the sound, 10 its name, being synonymous with what your first two, 11 as the throbbing complaint that poured out of its cumbersome body. 12 But really what she was talking about in this detail of the throbbing 13 complaint is just the sound, 14 um, that the instrument makes. So the sound of its name and the sound 15 that it makes one plate are sort of connected in Virginia's mind. 16 So this is the connection that Virginia initially picks up on that the question 17 is asking us about. 18 So when we look at our answer choices, that connection is best revealed in 19 answer choice. A this should be our correct choice, 20 what it is called and how it sounds, um, 21 choice B, how it should be played at the maintenance it requires is not 22 correct. We really don't see much discussion of any maintenance of instruments. 23 See what it looks like and how popular it is. 24 Again, we don't see much discussion of the popularity of instruments and D how 25 widely available it is and how easy it is to master not much discussion 26 of availability. So B, C and D are out on a, 27 as are correct.
