Explanation for Question 33 From the Writing Section on the 2018 March Sat
Hey guys. So question 33 is going to be dealing with the usage of 2 though and how we're going to be dealing with this in regards to our 3 sentence structures. And here's what you need to know for these. 4 When I say though, I can S I don't need another transition work to 5 contrast because then I'm being redundant. So what I mean by that is, 6 if I say, though, I'm tired, 7 comma, I finished my homework. 8 This is a proper sentence. Um, 9 and it is how you would say this. 10 Um, if you were using though, 11 um, and pretty much what you need to know 12 is that when you have though, you don't want to be, 13 in fact, you can't be adding in other stuff like, 14 but, or, 15 um, wow. 16 Or, um, 17 in contrast or anything, 18 anything like that, because then you're being redundant, 19 because you already said, though, when you say though, 20 the statement, you can put a CommonWell and a statement that contrasts that somehow. 21 So this sentence res though companies must spend money to hire IO, 22 psychologists, comma, but doing so is a worthwhile investment. 23 And the problem with these is that this uses, 24 but which is another contracting term, 25 this uses while this uses, however, 26 and this, um, 27 correctly just says, psychologists, 28 um, to say the companies must spend money to hire IO psychologists doing so 29 as a worthwhile investment, it has a comma right there to separate the two 30 items after you used, though, it doesn't add in those extra words, 31 which are going to make it incorrect in your usage of though, 32 because it will be covered with that.
