Explanation for Question 18 From the Writing Section on the 2018 March Sat

Hey guys. So question 18 is going to be dealing with both, 2 uh, tents and singular versus plural. 3 So this reads Simone's, uh, Nisa playing a more vocal part in the movement 4 were based largely on her misgivings, that mixing politics with popular music. 5 Now, this is going to be in talking about what happened with Simone 6 in the past. We already know this entire passage is talking about what was 7 going on with Samoan back during the civil rights movement, 8 what she was dealing with. We're never going to be saying someones uneasy is 9 or someone's needs are blah, blah, blah. 10 We don't want to be talking in the present tense right now. So any 11 question, uh, choice that gives us, um, possible present tense is going to be 12 wrong so we can cross out B off of that. 13 Then we need to figure out are we dealing with singular or plural item? 14 And this tells us what, um, 15 um, what is, 16 uh, based largely on her misgivings that mixing politics, 17 soldiers. Well, that is her unease. Simone's unease, 18 um, blank based largely on her misgivings, 19 that mixing politics with music. That's what we're talking about as our, 20 as our main item here. And so Mons uneasy, 21 that is a singular thing. 22 It is just her unease or her discomfort. 23 Um, if we said her discomforts or her uneasiness, 24 I don't even know if that's a word, then it will be plural, 25 but since it's not a singular, 26 we need to do something that's singular.
