Explanation for Question 3 From the Math (Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 4

Now for number three, we have a pizza, right? 2 And so it's a whole pizza altogether and it's 3 three pounds the total. And then we slice that pizza in 4 half. Right? And then it tells us that we slice each half into thirds 5 after that. And so we can tell, you know, this is a very visual 6 question, kind of geometry related. 7 And so we're going to want to draw a picture right off the bat. 8 And then we need to know what is the weight in ounces of each 9 slice, right? So after cutting in half and then cutting in thirds, 10 we see that each slice is one sixth of the pizza and the 11 whole pizza is three pounds, right? So if we take the three pound 12 pizza and divide it by six, 13 we get the, each slice is going to be one half pound, 14 but we need to see our, what our answer is an ounces, 15 right? And one half of a pound in ounces is half of the 16 16 ounces, which is going to be eight ounces, 17 which is why our best answer then is going to have to be answered. 18 Choice C.
