[Video] Q51: Which choice from passage 2 provides the best evidence for the answer to the previous question?

Explanation for Question 51 From the Reading Section on the 2021 March Sat

All right, turning to question number 51. 2 We're looking for evidence for the answer to the previous question. 3 The previous question being question number 50, 4 about a strong disagreement between the passages. 5 So we'll go through our answer choices and try to find evidence of a 6 disagreement between the passages. Our first answer choice is 7 aligns 51 to 55, 8 which explain the new study and say the scientists were estimating the number of 9 large rogue planets in our galaxy using a technique called microlensing nothing there 10 to compare the results of the two studies. 11 Meanwhile, answer choice B line 60 to 62 looked at 22,617 12 microlensing events and determined, 13 which were caused by a rogue planet. Again, 14 no real connection being made to the original first passage 15 answer choice to see line 66 to 69, 16 the new analysis, or excuse me, the new results sharply contrast and estimate published 17 in 2011, which suggested that rogue Jupiters are almost twice as common as main 18 sequence stars. 19 So this is going to be our key piece of evidence. 20 This estimate published in 2011, 21 refers to the study in passage one, 22 um, and it refers to the quantity of sequence 23 stars. Um, when they say they're twice as common that has to do with 24 the number of them that there are. 25 Um, and that directly answers question number 50, 26 which was answer choice B how many or what the number of planets 27 work. So we have really good logic supporting answer choice C let's quickly 28 check out answer choice D lines 95 to 97. 29 That's the very end of the passage. Those latter planets get tossed out of 30 their planetary systems, much easier than behemoths like Jupiter. 31 So the comparison here being made is between lower mass and heavier mass 32 planets, not between the two passages. 33 So D is also known as good evidence and multi-select select answer choice C 34 for number 51.
