  • exacerbated

  • made worse by exacerbation

Explanation for Question 11 From the Writing Section on the 2020 March Sat

Not for number 11, our best answer's going to be C because it gets 2 the same message across as all the other answer choices, 3 but it does it in the fewest words possible, 4 right? So a, B and D are all repetitive answer choices. 5 And that's because they use two words or two sets of words. 6 That both mean the same thing, right? 7 For example, an egg, it uses exacerbated and made worse. 8 Now these both mean the same thing. So if I say exacerbated, 9 I already know that something is being made worse. 10 There's no reason to say it's made worse because I already said it. 11 So that's why a, B and D are all repetitive because they use made 12 worse and exacerbated when only you really need one of them. 13 Right. And we see that one and C so C is the 14 most concise answer. Choice is the most straightforward and it's the least repetitive, 15 which makes it also the best answer choice.
