Explanation for Question 12 From the Reading Section on the 2020 March Sat
Because the 12th says based on the passage. And so we're gonna have to 2 use the passage, obviously. How would the author most, most likely respond to another 3 scientist that claims that the theory of embodied connection, 4 which is the, the theory that we're describing here cannot count for thoughts 5 regarding abstract concepts, like peace and honesty. 6 Well, what was the theory in the first place? Right. And the theory was 7 basically that if you're going to go sit on a couch and do something 8 physical, then your brain, 9 the part that thinks about things will be thinking about it. 10 You know, the connected, um, 11 clearly like peace and honesty. You're not things that you can like physically do. 12 So I think the author would just say, you know, it doesn't have to 13 encompass every thought. It only encompasses like thoughts that are physical, 14 right? Like clearly you're not going to use the physical side of your brain 15 to think about honesty or peace. 16 But that doesn't mean that the theory is wrong. 17 Just means that the theory doesn't apply to every single thought is that to 18 me deep, when it says, you know, it may not account for all aspects 19 of thought, it just doesn't apply to every single type of thought, 20 but that's fine. Right. That does not. The theory was that it applied to 21 the physical thoughts, so that doesn't really like lesson a theory at all or 22 anything like that. Um, so I think this question is actually just easier to 23 go. It's easier to just go through the answer choices. 24 Um, and I think you can get a good sense of the answer without 25 even going back into the passage. If you read the passage really well, 26 but if you need to, I mean, I would just like go through the 27 main ideas again, um, instead of like reading through the entire passage again, 28 because that'll save you time on a question like this.
