Explanation for Question 41 From the Writing Section on the 2019 October Sat

Now looking at number 41, we see that this is a word choice question. 2 So it's going to be really important for us to find context clues and 3 the sentences around that center around that word. 4 And our sentence says, however, online publishing is cheaper than traditional publishing, 5 right? So that we know that something's cheaper than something else as it blank, 6 the cost, the physical re uh, physical production, 7 right? So that should make sense for online publishing. 8 You don't have to create a physical book, so you don't have to pay 9 the cost, right? So it kind of gets rid of, 10 gets rid of a cost of production. 11 So we want to find the word that is most similar to get rid 12 of. And immediately off the bat, 13 we should be able to eliminate bands, right? 14 Because to ban something needs to forbid something from happening, 15 right. To make it a rule against it happening. 16 Um, and so getting rid of these physical production costs doesn't mean that you're 17 banning them, right? Banning usually happens with, 18 uh, with people, right? People get banned from places or certain groups will get 19 banned, but to be in a cost, doesn't really make much sense. 20 Now, isolates isolates is not a good synonym of getting rid of, 21 because to isolate means to make something alone. 22 And so we're not making the physical production costs alone. 23 Right. And then finally, 24 our last decision is between elude and eliminate now to elude 25 kind of means to, uh, hide from right. 26 If you elude something or something alludes you, 27 you can't quite find it or you can't be found. 28 And so it's not that we're having a hard time finding the cost of 29 physical reproduction or escaping those costs, 30 but rather that we're getting rid of them in the way that we are 31 cutting them, we're eliminating them. And so for that reason, 32 eliminate is going to be a better answer. And so our answer is going 33 to be B.
