[Video] Q17: 2x+3y=4y=2xif the ordered pair (x, y) satisfies the system of equations above, what is the value of x ?

Explanation for Question 17 From the Math (No Calc) Section on the 2018 May Sat

Question 17 says if the ordered pair X Y satisfies the system of equations 2 above, what is the value of X? 3 Now we know that Y is equal to two X, 4 which means that in this first equation up here, 5 we can just plug into extra Y that way we'll only have one variable. 6 So I'm going to do that down here. Two X plus three times two 7 X, because that's what Y is equal to is equal to four. 8 And that gives us two X plus six X is equal to four 9 or eight. X is equal to four. 10 And when you divide both sides by eight, you get X is equal to 11 one half. And that is the correct answer here.
