[Video] Q16: In the xy-plane, line k passes through the point (3, 1) 5 7 and is parallel to the line with equation y= 5/2x-7/2

Explanation for Question 16 From the Math (No Calc) Section on the 2018 May Sat

Question 16 says in the X, 2 Y plane line K passes through the 0.31 and is parallel to the 3 line with the equation. Y equals five over two X minus seven, 4 over two. What is the slope of line? 5 K? So when two lines are parallel, 6 that means that they have the same slope. 7 So if we can just find the slope of this equation, 8 it's going to be the same as the slope of line K. 9 And the way that we're going to find the slope of that equation is 10 by looking at the Y equals MX plus B formula, 11 whatever lines have equations in this form, 12 the value of M is the slope. 13 So the coefficient for the X value is the slope. 14 And in this case, that value is five over two, 15 which means that the answer here is five over two.
