Explanation for Question 11 From the Writing Section on the 2017 April Sat

Our sentence for question, number 11 starts here the best way to address these 2 concerns about accuracy and privacy are not to avoid adopting electronic health 3 record systems, but rather to implement them effectively. 4 So here's our sentence. The question is asking us about the tents here to 5 use for the verb to be. 6 Um, however, what we're looking at here is about the verb, 7 but it's also really more about the subject. So the first thing I want 8 to do is take a look at what the subject is. 9 Um, we are looking at the best way 10 as our subject. It's easy to think that, 11 um, the subject would be these concerns. 12 Um, but the way is the subject, 13 um, the portion of the sentence that says to address these concerns, 14 it's just kind of a clarification of what the way is. 15 They're not actually the subject of the sentence itself. 16 So the subject here is the best way so way 17 is going to be singular. So because it's singular, 18 we want a singular form of this verb are, 19 is plural. So we can eliminate the no change option. 20 That's going to be incorrect. Um, 21 if we look at answer choice, D is that's going to be kind of 22 the singular form, um, 23 instead of R so that's our correct answer, 24 um, choices, B and C. I include this have and had, 25 um, have, is going to be plural. 26 So that's clearly wrong, but there's no real reason to insert. 27 This had been, um, we're talking about the way to address these concerns. 28 So we're kind of talking about what we want to do in the present, 29 not what we want to do in the past. So it doesn't make sense 30 to include that had an answer choice C and choice B is out because 31 it uses a plural form with a singular subject. 32 So BNC on are eliminated, and we're going to select answer choice D for 33 question number 11,
