Okay. 9 So why is this guy asking you a question in the first passage? 10 So it says, I now come back to the question. Why cannot this union 11 exist forever divided into free and slave states as our fathers made it. 12 He's asking this question of why can't this union exist forever, 13 right? This is directly appealing to Lincoln's argument. 14 Lincoln's argument was that the union will not exist forever if we keep 15 divided. 16 So he literally asks the question, 17 why can't this happen? What is Lincoln asking here in the second passage? 18 But has it been, so this element of slavery, 19 have we not always had quarrels difficulties over it?
