Explanation for Question 10 From the Math (No Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 8

So number 10 is telling us about a camping situation, 2 where we have a number of people and a number of tents. 3 And the first thing we can do is set our variables. 4 So we can say that T is equal to the number of two person 5 tents, and then that, 6 um, F is equal to the number of four person tents. 7 And we see in the, uh, the word problem that they tell us that 8 they brought a total of six 60 tents. 9 So that should mean that the number of two persons cents added to the 10 number of 4% sense is equal to the total number of tents that the 11 brought, which is 60. And now the second part of this equation, 12 or I guess the second equation that we can make here is the total 13 number of people that were there, right? And so if there's two people for 14 every two person tent, and then there's four people for every four person 15 tent, if I multiply those together and add them up, 16 I should get the total number of people, right? Because every person got to 17 sleep in a tent. 18 And if I had a total of 202 people, then it should be 202. 19 And one of the indicators that what we want to do here is trying 20 to make two equations is the fact that we can come up with two 21 variables, right? Cause we have two types of tense. 22 And that's a hint when we have two variables that we want to use 23 systems of equations, right? 24 And so I'm solving for the number of people in two person tense. 25 So what I can do is solve this topic, ration for F and then 26 plug that into my bott...
