Number four. This one is a pretty long sentence, 2 but it's because there's a list within that sentence. 3 Let's start at the beginning, but by initiating and collaborating on projects, 4 such as that such as is our cue, 5 that we are going to see a list and the list starts right here, 6 such as the Apollo moon missions, 7 the space shuttle program, the Hubble space telescope and 8 unmanned planetary exploration, 9 and the rest of the sentence goes on. But it's not really important because 10 we're only dealing with the list right here, this list of four things. 11 And the way that we can tell where these different items are, 12 is because there are commas in the sentence, 13 right? That's one of the main purposes of commas. 14 It's one of our comma rules. You use commas to separate items in a 15 list, right? So we already know we're going to be using commas in our 16 list so we can rule out B and C because they use semi-colons. 17 We're not going to use semi-colons in this list. 18 And you may also know that semi-colons are used 19 to separate two independent clauses. 20 For example, I ate, 21 I drank you'll notice that on 22 the left side of the semi-colon, that can stand alone as its own sentence. 23 It's independent.
