So this pretty directly 9 states right off the bat, that this passage is going to be about why 10 Americans shouldn't violate laws at all, 11 like zero period, nothing. And they also shouldn't tolerate their violation by 12 others. So this passage generally is going to be about why it's necessary 13 to follow each and every law. If we look at passage two, 14 contrasting this idea, the first sentence says unjust laws exist. 15 Shall we be content to obey them? Or shall we end never to amend 16 them and obey them until we have succeeded or shall we transgress them all 17 at once? So this is kind of indicating more of a 18 uncertainty and uncertainty about what we should do here. 19 And it says later in the passage, they say, 20 I say, break the law.
