Explanation for Question 8 From the Math (No Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 6
Number eight goes as this table. And then it asks us the table above 2 show some values of the functions, w and T for which value of X 3 is w of X plus T of X equal to X. 4 So to put that into words, we're trying to see where this value w 5 of X plus this value T of X is equal to this value X. 6 So let's run through each row and see which one is the correct 7 answer. So for this first row, 8 negative one, plus negative three is equal to negative four. 9 So that's not the right answer because negative four is obviously not equal to 10 X, which is one. So not this one. 11 Next one, three plus negative one is going to be equal to two. 12 And sure enough, that is equal to the X value that we've got, 13 which is two right here. So we can pick two as our correct answer. 14 I'll also run through the other ones and show why none of these values 15 work. So for the third row, 16 we've got four plus one is equal to five, which is not equal to 17 three X here. Three plus three is going to be equal to six, 18 which again, not equal to four. And then negative one plus five is 19 going to be equal to four, which again is not equal to five, 20 leaving two as our correct answer.
