[Video] Q6: If x = 2/3y and y = 18, what is the value of 2x - 3?

Explanation for Question 6 From the Math (No Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 6

Question six asks us if X equals two thirds, 2 Y and Y equals 18. What is the value of two X minus three. 3 All right. So we've got that. X is equal to two thirds. 4 Y I know that Y is equal to 18, 5 so it's plug in Y to figure out the value of X so 6 18. And another way to picture this is two times 18. 7 Over three, two times 18 is equal 8 to 36 divided by three. 9 It's going to be equal to 12. So now we know, 10 we know that X is equal to 12, but we're looking for the value 11 of two X minus three. So the plug in our new found X 12 value and see what that is. Two times 12 minus three, 13 two times 12 is 24, minus three is 21. 14 So we can pick a, is our answer.
