[Video] Q17: Question 17 from the math (no calc) section of official sat practice test 6

Explanation for Question 17 From the Math (No Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 6

Question 17 gives us this expression. 2 Two-thirds T equals five or two, 3 and then it says, what value of T is the solution of the equation 4 above. So we're just solving for T let's read this expression 5 out a little bigger. So you're got two thirds 6 T equals five over two. You can also start that out as two T 7 over three equals five over two. 8 Now you're all you're going to do is you're going to multiply both sides 9 by three to start and why we're doing this as you're trying to isolate 10 the teen, get it on its own so we can cross out the 11 threes on this side. Now we've got two T is equal to five times 12 three, over two. And similarly we can divide 13 both sides by two. So divide five 14 times three, over two by two, which is the same thing as multiplying the 15 denominator by two. And now the twos cancel out and we've got T is 16 equal to five times three, 17 over two times two, which is equal to 15 18 over four. So that's our answer. 19 That T is equal to 15 over four.
