Explanation for Question 12 From the Math (Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 6
We can say when looking at this page, that question 12 through question 14 2 is going to use the following information. So this table, 3 and then also this figure, this graph question 12 asks us 4 over which the following time periods, if the average growth rate of the sunflower 5 leased the easiest and fastest way to answer this one is going to 6 be by finding where the sunflower height changes, 7 least over each period of time or seeing where the growth rate 8 is the least I should say. So thinking about what average growth rate 9 means, that's when the growth rate is essentially referring to how quickly 10 the sunflowers height is changing over time. 11 And we're looking for the lowest growth rate over all of these periods. 12 A lower growth rate is going to be equivalent to a lesser slope in 13 the graph because it means that the height is changing less over a given 14 amount of time. 15 So we're looking for the smallest slope, 16 essentially in all of these time periods, 17 looking at the graph, we can pretty clearly see that the slope is least 18 in this latter part between days 56 to 84 or so. 19 And this makes some logical sense, right? 20 Thinking about how we, how we understand, 21 um, the growth of plants. It's going to grow a lot at the beginning. 22 And then once you're, once it reaches its full height and micro a little 23 slower, or it might just stop completely once it's kind of reached its maximum. 24 And that seems to be what's happening here. The growth rate is really low, 25 and we can tell that because its height is essentially plateauing out once it 26 reaches about 63 days or so. 27 So looking at our options, we can pick D as our answer choice. 28 The average growth rate of the sunflower is leased from day 63 today.
