Explanation for Question 21 From the Math (Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 4
So now for question number 21, 2 we're asked in the scatter plot of the data where renewable energy consumption is 3 plotted on the X axis. So the X axis is energy consumption 4 and on the Y axis and renewable energy consumption for the year to, 5 uh, 2010, we got 2020 here and then 2010 on the Y axis, 6 how many data points will Y be equal to X? 7 Right. And so first let's think about what is Y and what is X. 8 So Y is where renewable energy consumption for 2010. 9 So basically energy in 2010 and then X was the same thing, 10 energy consumption in 2000. So essentially right. 11 If Y is equal to X, then that means that the energy consumption at 12 that point in 2000 was also equal to energy consumption at that point in 13 2010. So let's look at our point 14 here, right? And so let's find, 15 um, where we have our equal energy consumption in the year 2000 and 16 in the year 2010. 17 Alrighty. So remember if we look at this and you know, 18 we look right off the bat, none of them are immediately equal, 19 right? But if we look at our answer choices, we have to have at 20 least one that's equal. So even though none of these are exactly 21 equal, we were going to pick the ones that are close right now, 22 biofuels, there's a giant gap. So those are not equal for 2010 23 and 2000. Now geothermal is super close, 24 right? They're really close to each other. So we'll call these equal. 25 Um, hydroelectric is a little bit further off than, 26 uh, geothermal, but again, really close, ...
