Explanation for Question 11 From the Math (Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 4

Now here in number 11, we're looking at the label points, 2 right? Points a, B, C, and D. And we need to know, 3 uh, which represents the animal for which the ratio. 4 So we're working with the ratio here of life expectancy to gestation period 5 is the greatest, right? 6 And so these ratios can also be written as fractions, 7 and that's really what we're going to want to do here, life expectancy, 8 but instead of writing the colon, we'll put a fraction bar over gestation period. 9 All right. So we'll just go through each point. Let's look at a, 10 the life expectancy of a is seven and the gestation period is 20. 11 So this is seven over 20, and it's going to be easiest to compare 12 these as decimals actually. So that's also 0.35. 13 Now we see that B, um, has a life expectancy of eighth and 14 adjust station period of 45. And if we plug that in our calculator, 15 we get 0.17 or more like 0.18 as 16 our decimal, right? So a has a greater ratio, 17 um, than beat us. So B's not our answer. 18 We look at, see, we've got, um, 19 eight over 50 plug that in our calculator as a fraction, 20 we get 0.16 against the less than a, 21 so C stop, possibly our answer. And then finally D that's 22 going to be 10 or life expectancy of 10 over 50. 23 And that's 10 over 50 is 0.2. 24 Again, still smaller than the 0.35. 25 So if we put in the numbers, we see the 0.3, five is the 26 biggest decimal, and we want the greatest anyways. 27 And that belongs to point a.
