[Video] Q27: Question 27 from the math (calc) section of official sat practice test 10

Explanation for Question 27 From the Math (Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 10

Now for number 27, we're looking at this equation right here, 2 which says that based on the equation above what is the value of three 3 X minus two, right? 4 And so it's probably pretty logical to go about this equation by first solving 5 just for X and then plugging it into here. 6 But right off the bat, I'm noticing that if I divide everything here by 7 three and this parentheses, I would get three X plus two. 8 So I'm going to try to solve for X initially. 9 But if I possibly land on a case where I can just solve for, 10 um, three X minus three X minus two from 11 that, then we'll go from there. Um, 12 so I'm going to go ahead. I'll distribute this as I solve for my 13 equation and it, 14 it says, so that would be three times two. 15 So that's the six X minus four, 16 right when I distribute that three over two and then minus this four still 17 is equal to nine X minus six. So I'll combine like terms. 18 Um, whenever the screen catches up to me, 19 there we go. Awesome. So now I'll combine like terms negative four minus four 20 that's minus eight is equal to nine X minus six, 21 and now I'll move all my exes over to one side of the equation. 22 And then all of my normal numbers over to the other side when I'm 23 done here. So these cancel, 24 I got the minus eight is equal to three X minus six. 25 I'll move the six over plus six plus six. 26 Now I get negative two is equal to three X, 27 right? So we're getting close. It's going to be really useful here just to, 28 uh, to...
