Explanation for Question 34 From the Math (Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 1

So on the question number 34, which says that a local television station 2 sells time slots for programs in 30 minute intervals. 3 If the station operates 24 hours per day, 4 every day of the week, what is the total number of 30 minute time 5 slots that the station can sell for Tuesday and Wednesday? 6 Right? So we have really two days, 7 if we want to think about it hours, we have 48 hours here, 8 right? And we sell, 9 um, time slots in 30 minutes. 10 And so we know the Infor for every hour. 11 So in one hour we have two 30 minute slots, 12 right? So basically one hour gives you two slots. 13 Now, if we have a total of 48 hours to work with, 14 and we have two slots per hour, then we can do 48 times two 15 to get the total number of slots. And that'll give us 96. 16 Right? So the total number of slots is going to be 96. 17 We can get that by starting with our time and days, 18 going to hours, and then working into pieces of 30 minutes. 19 This is 30 minute is half of an hour. Then we're going to have 20 96 time slots.
