Explanation for Question 16 From the Math (Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 1

So number 16 is asking us, which of the following represents the relationship between 2 H and C. And so we need to look at the graph for this, 3 right? Because C is our Y axis and H is our X axis. 4 And if they want to know the relationship between agency, 5 what they really want is the equation of this line here, 6 because that line is what represents the relationship between C and H. 7 We know that the equation for a line is Y equals MX plus B 8 or B use our Y intercept. And we cross the Y axis, 9 or I guess the C axis at five. Right? 10 So our equation should have a plus five. 11 So, you know, a is no good and D is no good. 12 Right? And now we just have to figure out what the slope of our 13 equation is. So at one, 14 if I go up from five to eight, 15 so if I go up three and over one, 16 I'll reach the next data point. And then here, 17 if I go up 1, 2, 3, so three, 18 then over one, Alligan reach to the next data point. 19 And so what might be confusing about finding the slope here is that the 20 axes have different scales, right? Because on the right here, 21 each box represents one, but on the, 22 um, on the, each axis, four boxes represents one. 23 So that's something to keep in mind, but overall, 24 we can see there are rises. Three are run as one. 25 So our slope has to be positive three. So our best answer's going to 26 be C.
