Explanation for Question 13 From the Math (Calc) Section on the Official Sat Practice Test 1
So on number 13, we see that we have a group of 10th grade 2 students who responded to a survey about their math course and were asked, 3 which of the following categories accounts for approximately 19% of all 4 survey respondents. Right? So basically we want 19% of everyone 5 and all of our survey response responders, 6 there were 310 of them, right. We get that by looking at the corner 7 of the two total columns. So basically you want 19% of three, 8 10. And so we can go ahead and we can plug that in our 9 calculator 0.1, nine times 310, 10 and that'll give you 58.9. 11 So just to clarify, we do that by doing the 0.19 times three 10, 12 that gives us 58.9. So we want to find the column or the box 13 that has 58, 58, 59, 14 maybe 60 something in that range right now, 15 if we look at the number of females taking geometry, 16 that's 53, so it's close, but it might be a little on the low 17 side. 18 If we look at females taking algebra two, 19 that 62. So that's a little closer than, 20 uh, than 53. So we know that a is not the best answer because 21 B would be better than a, since 62 is closer to about 58. 22 Now males taking geometry that's 59. 23 So that's right on the spot, right? Cause we're looking at 58.9, 24 which is just about 59. So a is wrong. 25 B is wrong. Sees our best look so far. 26 And then males taking algebra one that's way too low, 27 right? 44 is way too low. So 59 is closest to 58.9 is 28 our best answer has to be C okay.
