Explanation for Question 17 From the Writing Section on the 2021 May Sat (International)

Hey guys. So question 17 is going to do with the proper proper use 2 of, um, two B. So this is saying that, 3 uh, Williams vowed that he would resign from his position if the effort, 4 um, proved blank and embarrassment. 5 So what he's trying to say is that if the effort, um, 6 shows up as an embarrassment, 7 um, proved, um, it was an embarrassment and then he would 8 resign. And the language there is that we need to use is, 9 uh, to be, and that's because, um, 10 he's, he's essentially saying that if it were, 11 uh, if it were to be this, 12 he's not saying if it was this, 13 or, um, if the effort, 14 uh, is being this, he's saying if it were to be in the future, 15 uh, in the future tense, um, then he would resign from this position. 16 So it's not, if the FAA approved as an embarrassment and that is not 17 helping us out with the tents at all, that's just, you know, 18 confusing word. Um, if the, 19 if approved being an embarrassment, um, 20 once again, it's not about being embarrassment. If the effort proved to be an 21 embarrassment, and it's kind of like a, almost a colloquial phrase of just how 22 you would word it, if you're saying something proved to be blank and as 23 being as the same way where it just doesn't fit, 24 and that's just not how people say it. So this is one of those 25 kind of rare, weird questions where you kind of have to base it off 26 of like what actually sounds right here.
