[Video] Q15: As used in line 55, "boosted" most nearly means

Explanation for Question 15 From the Reading Section on the 2021 March Sat

Question number 15, it is a vocabulary and context question as he has in 2 line 55 boosted. Most nearly means what. 3 So looking back at line 55, 4 That's over here, the team repeated the experiment 35 times and observed, 5 but stories boosted posting by men and women alike, 6 as well as by people living in different U S regions with different political 7 orientations and influence on Twitter. So boosted posting 8 here, um, as meant to me and, 9 um, kind of increasing their posting. 10 We see that there's, um, evidence they're writing more than 13,000 additional 11 posts. Um, so generally that effect that we're observing 12 is an increasing number of posts being made. 13 So we can say the stories, um, 14 uplifted the number of posts that were made. 15 So the answer choice that kind of best aligns with that meaning is going 16 to be answer choice B raised. 17 They raised the number of posts. Um, 18 it wouldn't make sense to talk about advancing the number of posts, 19 supporting the number of posts we can eliminate and see they maybe 20 have a similar meaning, but they don't apply really to this context. 21 You wouldn't say you advanced numbers or supported numbers, 22 um, and choice D improved suggests that there's kind of a moral 23 assertion that, um, higher numbers are better, 24 but there's not really anything that the authors say to suggest that higher numbers 25 or lower numbers are better. So we don't know whether this increase in numbers 26 is an improvement or not, and that's why D isn't quite as good of 27 a fit and most liked answer choice B for this question.
