[Video] Q38: Which choice completes the sentence with information most parallel to that provided in the previous sentence?

Explanation for Question 38 From the Writing Section on the 2020 October Sat

So question number 38 is asking us which choice allows the second sentence. 2 So the paragraph two parallel or mirror the first sentence. 3 Right? And so when they say parallel, they basically mean they want the second 4 sentence to be structured so that it talks about the same things in the 5 same places. We can see that both of these sentences have a semi-colon right. 6 And in the first sentence, we talk about how much light we talked about 7 the light before the semi-colon right. 8 We say it was stored in the dark, so it didn't see any light. 9 Then we put a semi-colon and then we talk about whether or not it 10 had CO2. So here's the basic structure. 11 First we talk about light. Then we talk about CO2. 12 And now in the second sense, zoom in a little here, 13 we talk about the bright light for one hour first. 14 And then in the second part, the way it is, 15 we don't talk about CO2. Right? But we want to that way we can 16 mirror the first sentence. So it doesn't talk about CO2 C doesn't 17 talk about CO2 and D doesn't either the only one that talks about CO2 18 is B. And so in order for this sentence to be parallel to the 19 first sentence, we're going to have to choose answer choice B. 20 Okay.
