[Video] Q17: If 12x+6=4x+8, what is the value of x?

Explanation for Question 17 From the Math (No Calc) Section on the 2020 October Sat

So question 17 is asking us what is the value of X? 2 So this is just a simple solve for X equation. 3 And whenever you're solving for X, you want to try to get your Xs 4 on one side of the equation and your normal numbers on the other. 5 So we can see here are two X terms. 6 So I'll start by subtracting four X from both sides. 7 That way I can get rid of the X's that are on the right 8 and just have two to eight X on the left. 9 Plus six is equal to eight from here. 10 I can subtract the six cause I'm trying to get all the normal numbers 11 now to the right side of my equation. So I have eight X is 12 equal to two. Last thing I need to do is divide by eight on 13 both sides. So I can cancel out this eight and I get the X 14 is equal to two over eight, and I can simplify that to one over 15 four. So your answer could be one over four or 0.2, 16 five.
