Explanation for Question 34 From the Math (Calc) Section on the 2020 October Sat
So question 34 is a probability and statistics problem. 2 If we look at the question is asking us according to the table, 3 what fraction of corn fields, where an ice ice spot was observed 4 needed fungicide. So if we hone it on this partisans, 5 we can see us asking what fraction of these corn fields with an eye 6 spot. And so it's another way to say what they're asking is if a 7 corn field had an eye spot, what is the probability that it needed fungus 8 side? So the total that we're looking at is not really the total of 9 all corn fields, right? We're just looking at the total of cornfields, 10 where there was an ice spot and there were 40 of them. 11 So our denominator for our fraction has to be 40 because we're looking at, 12 we're only choosing from corn fields where there was a nice spot. 13 And now it's asking us needed fungicide, 14 right? 30 of those needed fungicide. 15 So we can per the 30 and our numerator. 16 Now, if we simplify that we can get three over four or 75%.
