Explanation for Question 10 From the Math (Calc) Section on the 2020 October Sat
So question number 10 gives us an equation and then they ask us, 2 what is the value of 40 why? 3 Now, if we look at this equation that they've given us, 4 we can see that we actually start with an eight Y and this is 5 useful because I know that if I do eight times five, 6 I get 40. So if I multiply both sides of my equation, 7 times five, I'll get a new equation that shows me what's 40 Y right? 8 Because eight times five is 40 is equal to. 9 Now. I remember I have to multiply both sides of the equation. 10 So three times five, I also have to do that. 11 That gives me 15 X. So now I know that 15 X is equal 12 to 40. Why? Because I can multiply both sides of the equation by five.
