Explanation for Question 26 From the Writing Section on the 2020 March Sat

Not for question number 26, our best is going to be G or D 2 gratifying. And the reason D is our best answer is because if we look 3 earlier in the passage, it describes working for Vista as an experience that 4 is rewarding, right? So when it says that the work is especially blank 5 for the employees, we know that we want to choose a synonym of rewarding 6 and the best synonym of rewarding is going to be gratifying. 7 Um, and we can also eliminate the other answer choices because they have just 8 a little bit of the wrong connotation. Um, 9 reassuring, if something is reassuring, 10 then that means that it makes someone feel, 11 um, certain right? And so we don't have anything here about Vista, 12 making people feel certain about something. 13 So a has again, the wrong connotation. 14 Um, B is thankful, which is pretty close to gratifying, 15 right? But thankful it's different from rewarding because rewarding doesn't necessarily 16 show any gratitude. Whereas thankful would imply that someone has gratitude for something. 17 And then finally see satisfactory. Um, 18 if something is satisfactory, that doesn't mean that it's rewarding, 19 right? If something that's satisfactory is maybe even average, 20 right. You're content with what you have. Um, 21 and so that doesn't show that people feel like they're receiving a reward for 22 working at this company. And so overall our best answer is D because gratifying 23 is a synonym of rewarding.
