Explanation for Question 34 From the Writing Section on the 2019 May Sat

Now, moving on to our final passage of this May, 2019 writing 2 in language section of the exam, we're going to take a look at question 3 number 34, which choice most effectively combines the sentences at the underlined 4 portion. So here, what we want to do is be as brief as possible 5 and eliminate any redundancy in these two sentences by streamlining the 6 sentences, merging them together. So the current way, 7 this is constructed rates, such exhibits are created and overseen by costume creators. 8 The term costume creators refers to professionals who oversee acquisition maintenance, 9 display of clothing collections. So we can eliminate this, 10 the term costume creators, 11 um, because that's, that's about redundant. 12 We already said that we don't need to say it twice. So what we're 13 going to do is try to merge these two sentences. 14 Um, and the easiest way to do that is actually just with a comma 15 as in choice D so that's, your exhibits are created and overseen by costume 16 curators, comma professionals who oversee the acquisition maintenance and display of clothing 17 collections at museums. 18 That's really the easiest way to do it. Um, 19 Joyce B is correct technically, 20 um, although it is a little bit wordy, which is why we eliminate it, 21 choice C um, is also correct. 22 I believe as long as we have two independent clauses on either side of 23 that semi-colon, but again, no need to really make this two separate causes. 24 We can, um, earn two separate independent clauses. 25 We can really merge it together more effectively than that. 26 Um, and trace a strictly speaking. 27 They are again, providing a little bit, 28 um, too much wordiness that we don't need. 29 So we're going to go with answer choice D to really simplify this, 30 streamline the transition by just merging those two sentences together with a comma.
