Looking now at our third passage of the March, 2019 2 writing section number two, um, 3 we're going to look at question number 23. 4 The writer's considering deleting the underlying sentence. 5 Should the sentence be kept or deleted? 6 So here we need to think about whether this detail is relevant, 7 how it fits into the rest of the passage isn't located in the right 8 spot. Is it relevant? Does it contradict any of the other points that are 9 discussed all of those sorts of considerations? 10 So looking at the detail itself, line 23 says, 11 um, the Olympic decathlon, a series of 10 track and field events was also 12 introduced in 1912. So when they say also introduced in 1912, 13 we can guess that because the previous sentence is talking about, 14 um, this idea, uh, being incorporated into the 1912 Olympics, 15 this sentence that the author is considering, 16 whether they should keep or delete is meant to just add on an additional 17 detail. 18 Okay. This one event was introduced in the 1912 Olympics. 19 Here's an example of an additional event that was included in the 1912 Olympics. 20 So when we kind of evaluate that, 21 that logic, um, we can see that while there is a clear connection between 22 those two sentences, it's not super relevant, 23 um, to include the detail that, 24 um, this other event was included in 1912 as well. 25 Um, because the focus of this passage, 26 isn't about, um, the 1912 Olympics in particular, 27 or the creation of new sports in different Olym...
