Question 40 is asking us which statement would both of our authors 2 be most likely to agree on? Um, 3 about freedom in general, most likely to agree. 4 So looking at our answer choices, 5 let's go through one by one and evaluate whether both of our authors would 6 be in agreement on answer choice. 7 A just society is give people the freedom to develop as individuals. 8 This is something that both authors touch on. 9 Um, our first author says that it 10 is critical to allow people to sort of develop, 11 um, without any obstacles, the essence of development along your own lines. 12 Um, he says that you must have the right to develop. 13 So he also emphasizes this act of self-determination, 14 um, and our author and passage two kind of has a similar perspective in 15 that, um, uh, society finally, 16 in which individual merit and individual merit alone is the criterion for man's 17 advancement, um, is, uh, is a desirable. 18 And so both are in agreement on this statement about freedom presented in 19 answer twice a day, looking at our other answer choices, 20 though, answer choice B democracy cannot exist where freedom isn't any white compromised. 21 This is something that our, our passage one author might be, 22 uh, perhaps in an agreement with more than our, 23 um, passage to author. 24 So passage one makes the case that, 25 um, apartheid is the sort of the exact 26 opposite of democracy and that there cannot be 27 real democracy until everyone enjoys democratic rights. 28 Wh...
