[Video] Q14: Which of the following is equivalent to the fourth root of x^2 + 8x + 16, where x > 0?

Explanation for Question 14 From the Math (No Calc) Section on the 2019 March Sat

Question 14 asks, which of the following is equivalent to two, 2 uh, X squared plus eight X plus 16 to the fourth root where 3 X is greater than zero. So first I'm going to rewrite this 4 as X plus four squared to the fourth root. 5 And I can do that because X squared plus eight X plus 16 factors 6 into X plus four square. Now I'm going to rewrite this in a new 7 notation. So basically whenever you have a number 8 under route, let's say to the B route with, 9 to the, a power, you can rewrite this as X 10 to the, a over B. So I'm going to do the same thing here. 11 I'm going to rewrite this as X plus four to the two fourths, 12 which of course simplifies to X plus four to the one half. 13 And therefore the answer is D.
