Explanation for Question 14 From the Math (Calc) Section on the 2019 March Sat
Question 14 says of the following, 2 which best approximate approximates, 3 the number of patients surveyed, who received refitting in New Zealand. 4 So let's first go up to this graph over here, 5 which tells us what percent received. Refitting we're going to go to the New Zealand 6 column right here, and we're going to find what percent received refill 7 that's right here. So that looks like it's about that 8 60 65. So about 65%. 9 So about 65% received re fittings. 10 Now it's a funny, actual number of people who received a re fittings. 11 We need to see the total number of people who received fittings and in 12 New Zealand, that was 721. 13 So now we just need to find 65% of 721. 14 And we're going to do that by multiplying 721 by 0.65. 15 And that's going to give us an estimation of the correct number. 16 And that gives us about 469. 17 It's a little less than that, but that's just an estimate. And so once 18 we look through our answer choices, we see that our estimate was closest to 19 answer C and so C 447 is the correct answer here.
