Now here in number 10, we're looking at the sentence that says for people 2 building a new nation, these words were particularly meaningful. 3 And so we see that there are some options here as far as punctuation 4 that we can use. Right. Um, 5 the question is, should we put commas? 6 Where should we put them no comments at all? If you see a semi-colon 7 I always suggest starting with that answer choice to check if it's correct. 8 Um, because semi-colons are really the easiest to use. 9 They only have one rule. And the one rule about the semi-colon is that 10 you need to have an independent clause on both sides and independent clauses, 11 need a subject, a verb, and a complete thought. 12 And if we look at the first half of the semi-colon, 13 it would just say for people which has no verb, 14 right? This one is pretty, obviously not a complete sentence. 15 So if I don't have that, semi-colon doesn't work and I can eliminate it 16 or deep right off the bat, which is very nice. 17 And then we'll go on, we'll look at these comments here. I've got comments 18 in a couple of places, but I want you to notice that there's a 19 comma right here as well.
