Explanation for Question 18 From the Reading Section on the 2019 April Sat
For number 18, we want to know based on the passage, 2 which action would most likely reduce political extremism among the citizen. 3 Right? So if we remember at the end of the passage, 4 it gave us advice on how to solve the issue that they were talking 5 about, and then they experimented with, so let's go to the end to see 6 if they offered any advice. It says at the very end, 7 all of these psychological forces increased political extremism, 8 and no simple measure will change that. 9 But forcing the candidates to provide concrete and elaborate plans might be a start. 10 It gives citizens a starting place. 11 So by forcing politicians to kind of elaborate on 12 their policies and what changes they plan on making and really giving details, 13 it helps citizens understand it better, 14 and therefore their values and beliefs might be a 15 little bit less extreme. So now, 16 if we look at our choices that goes along with B requiring 17 that politicians explain their proposed policies in detail before an election is held. 18 So now we want to know which choice provides the best evidence for the 19 answer. And we chose the last two lines line 60, 76 20 to 78.
