Explanation for Question 32 From the Math (Calc) Section on the 2019 April Sat
Number 32 gives us the distribution of car colors registered in town 2 X. And we want to know how many more white cars than black cars 3 are registered in town X. So first we can find the amount of each 4 color car and then subtract them. 5 So the amount of white cars is going to be the total 6 amount of cars, 4,000, 7 and then you multiply that 4,000 by the percentage that are white. 8 So 0.3, 9 two. Now to find the black, 10 we're going to do the same thing. We're going to take the total amount 11 of cars 4,000 and multiply by the percentage that are black. 12 So 13% as a decimal is 0.13. 13 So enough, we put that in 4,000 times, 14 0.3, two is equal to 1,280. 15 And for the black cars, 4,000 times 0.13 is equal 16 to five 20. 17 So now we want to know how many more white cars and black cars 18 are registered in town X. We are going to subtract the black cars from 19 the white cars. So 1,280 minus 520 20 gives you 760. 21 So there are 760 more white cars than black cars registered in 22 town X.
