[Video] Q13: What is the value of t in the equation that models this situation?

Explanation for Question 13 From the Math (Calc) Section on the 2019 April Sat

Number 13 says, what is the value of T in the equation that models 2 the situation? So we are basically taking this equation and 3 solving for T so I will rewrite it over here. 4 17 plus three times 13, 5 over 15 minus T equals four. 6 So first I'm going to go ahead and distribute the three into the parentheses. 7 So that gives me 70 plus 39, 8 over 15 minus three T equals 9 four. So now I can combine the 17 minus three T. 10 So that gives me 40 plus 39, 11 over 15 equals four, 12 but I'm not going to write four. Since I have this fraction here in 13 with the denominator 15, I'm going to make four, 14 have a denominator of 15. So that is six C over 15 15. That equals four. So now I can go ahead and subtract 16 my 39 over 15 from both sides that 17 gives me four T equals 21 over at 15. 18 Now to get rid of the four, I can divide by four or multiply 19 by one fourth to both sides. 20 So that gives me T equals 21 over 60, 21 but that is not in simplest form so we can divide the numerator numerator 22 and denominator by three. And that gives me seven over 20, 23 which is B.
