Explanation for Question 10 From the Math (Calc) Section on the 2019 April Sat
For number 10, we are building up a system of inequalities. 2 So we have Jonathan who needs to earn at least 1 75 next week and 3 can work at most 20 hours here in 10 per hour, 4 the lawn service job and eight per hour at the gym job. 5 So we want to find the system of many qualities that represents this situation. 6 I think the easiest way to start this one would be to double-check the 7 direction of the inequalities. 8 And then we can eliminate some choices. 9 So if he needs to earn at least 1 75, 10 that means we're looking for whatever is on this side is going to be 11 greater than 1 75. And then he can work at most 20 hours. 12 So whatever is on this side is going to be less than or equal 13 to 20. And you always look for if this was a Pac-Man, 14 it eats the greater side. 15 So that's how I always remember which way those signs should be facing. 16 Okay. So now we can start eliminating some choices. 17 We have this 1 75 spacing the wrong way. 18 Then we have this one is facing the wrong way. 19 Both of those were facing the wrong way. And then for D we have 20 the one next to the 20 facing the wrong way. 21 So that leaves us with C and then we can go ahead and double 22 check that it is correct. If L is the number of hours he's working 23 at the long service job, you multiply that by 10 per hour here. 24 And then if G is the number of hours, 25 he was working at the gym and multiply that by eight to 26 get your total wage for the week. 27 And then we just add up the hours to get the amount of hours. 28 So it checks out and see is the correct answer.
