Explanation for Question 42 From the Reading Section on the 2018 May Sat
We are looking now at the last passage of our May, 2018 sat 2 reading section, starting with question number 42. 3 This question asks us over the course of the passage, 4 the main focus shifts from. 5 So we're looking at some kind of transition between what the beginning of the 6 passage is primarily looking at and what the end of the passage is primarily 7 looking at. So let's take a look at our passage here. 8 Um, we noticed that in the beginning of the passage, 9 we see a lot of discussion of the Hubble space telescope, 10 and exactly what it does, 11 um, what its capabilities are. 12 We see discussion of when it was installed, 13 um, and exactly what it was being used for. 14 Then we see this introduction of the scientist that the passage 15 is primarily about talking about their candles project, 16 um, which was designed to search for distant type a 17 supernova. 18 Um, and then it goes on to describe more about the program, 19 as well as what it was tasked with doing and 20 what the ultimate findings were taking all of these different images, 21 revealing a quarter million ancient galaxies, 22 um, and providing a lot more information about what those galaxies look like. 23 So the overall organization of the passage, 24 the beginning focuses primarily on the Hubble space telescope and its capabilities. 25 And then the second half focuses on this candles project and what the program 26 was designed to do and what its findings were.
