Question number 32 reads in passage. 2 One Douglas implies that the legislators consideration of the bill he 3 has proposed has been clouded by what? 4 So we want to see, um, 5 Douglas has discussion of how he thinks the legislators are actually viewing 6 this bill. Um, we're going to re refer back to the passage for this 7 one. And we're generally looking for Douglas, 8 his reaction to how legislators are responding to 9 the bill that he put forward. Now, 10 sort of towards the end of this passage, 11 he says, um, now I ask the friends and opponents of this measure to 12 look at it as it is. So he's introducing his final point here. 13 Um, he says that if the is 14 right, let it be about and maintained if it is wrong, 15 when it be repudiated, he says he characterizes the response as being a lot 16 of quibbling about the Missouri compromise. 17 And he says, um, it really is a simple question about, 18 will you allow the people to legislate for themselves? 19 So he characterized as the response as being very back and forth 20 on a lot of other issues, but in his mind, 21 it really has to do with this one simple question of, 22 um, this sort of self-determination choosing the policy that people actually want to have 23 in place where they live.
