Turning now to our third passage of this May, 2018 2 reading section, looking at the first question here, 3 question number 21, we're being asked what the main purpose of the passages 4 for let's refer back to the text and try to get a holistic sense 5 of this. Um, essentially the main purpose of the passage we see, 6 um, first of all, we're working with a natural sciences passage. 7 Um, we started off with a comparison between a house cat and a wild 8 cat, um, and the author begins a discussion of how scientists 9 pinpoint the genetic changes that drive the transformation of domestication. 10 Um, so we see a couple of different scientists are weighing in, 11 in this passage. Um, 12 the author first describes exactly how cats first entered human 13 society and how they mostly domesticated themselves. 14 And what kind of changes accompanied that? 15 Then we're talking about a specific pinpointing of 16 particular genes. 17 Um, scientists are starting with the genome of a domestic cat 18 that had been published and then compared the resulting genome with other 19 animals. Uh, and then in the second column, 20 we see that the science, 21 the author is highlighting particular genes that may be played a role in the 22 domestication of cats. Um, 23 they also describe how the team sequence the genomes of 22 domestic 24 cats, um, and uncovered different genes that changed 25 as the cats were domesticated and spoke to sort of what those 26 genes maybe have a role in behaviorally speak...
