Explanation for Question 19 From the Reading Section on the 2018 May Sat

For our last two questions on this passage, 2 we are looking at the figure, 3 um, the graph that we're presented with that sort of sum up the findings 4 of the study. So here question number 19, 5 according to figure one, the percent increase in the activity of the PCC 6 and subjects reacting to a scenario in which someone has a conversation with a 7 real person. So we're looking at present increase activity of the PCC, 8 and we're talking about a conversation with a real person. 9 So let's look back at figure one and see what the percent increase is 10 with a real person here is figure one. 11 Um, and this entire graph is focusing on PCCs. 12 We don't want to worry about that detail. The change in activity is our 13 Y axis variable. So whichever category is highest up 14 on this Y axis, um, 15 is going to have the most change in activity and recall here that we 16 are looking at real people and an, 17 I believe in interactive scenario, let's double check. 18 We are talking about reacting. So interactive situation, 19 real person, that's 20 going to be real people interactive scenario, 21 or that darkest bar. Um, 22 and that's going to be here that looks like this is coming in at 23 a value of in-between 0.1% and 0.15%. 24 We'll call that 0.13%. 25 Um, since it looks a little bit closer to that 0.15, 26 and yes, we see 0.13% is answer choice C. 27 So this question is all about simply lining up the information in the question 28 with the appropriate bar in the figure one graph and reading 29 that value for the Y axis variable there, 30 which we see is about 0.13%.
