Explanation for Question 37 From the Reading Section on the 2018 April Sat
Hey guys. So the question 37 says as used in line 60 fired 2 most nearly means what? So let's go back and reread line 60 and 3 try and replace it with a word that fits best. 4 Now on 60 says, I asked you has a Southern heart been fired for 5 30 years for nothing. So when he says the Southern heart has been fired, 6 I think he means, has it been like, you know, enthuse and it hasn't 7 been, you know, used in the Southern heart, their beliefs, 8 has it been like, you know, you know, 9 pushed and, you know, like, you know, 10 fought for and represented for 30 years for nothing he's questioning, 11 you know, the, um, like, 12 you know, the, the, the usage of this, 13 for this thing that has been, you know, pushed by these people. 14 And so dismiss is definitely not the choice. 15 It's the opposite of dismissed. 16 Um, and it has to do with, you know, the, the push for it 17 forward. And, you know, like the, the emphasis of it, 18 rather than the dismissal of it illuminated doesn't really go for what we're looking 19 for. Cause illumination would be like, you know, in lighting something and making it 20 clear, which isn't really what he's saying. He's saying it's more than it's like 21 excited and emphasized now propelled and roused are somewhat similar. 22 And I would say propel is pushing something forward or Rouse is more like 23 encouraging something which fits a lot better with what he's talking about with a 24 Southern heart and its improvements. So that's, 25 to me the right choice with her.
